Euganean Hills, places of the heart

I propose a journey that is not just an itinerary, but an immersion into the most authentic soul of Veneto. Starting from historic Padua, we will delve into the gentle hills of the Euganean Hills, a territory where nature, art, history, and flavors merge in an unforgettable embrace.

This region, often less trodden than the major tourist routes, awaits you with its winding landscapes, medieval villages, and unmistakable flavors. This route is an invitation to discover hidden gems and celebrated wonders, among glasses of noble wine, walks in nature, breathtaking panoramas, and the warm welcome that only this land can offer. Prepare to live an experience that will stay in your heart long after you’ve unpacked your bags.

A compact territory, with medieval towns and attractions close to each other. The need to stay away from overtourism (though we still recommend opting for a slightly off-season period), and the goodness of its land, are a true mantra for all lovers of the best national food and wine. Among exquisite wines, exceptional olive oils, cured meats, and simple dishes with authentic flavors, this patch of land will transform you into a true Italian.

Get ready to collect your new passport, the one for the real dolcevita.

The first day is entirely dedicated to Padua, a city rich in history, art, and university life.

๐Ÿ“ Padua: An Open-Air Treasure
Park your car in a convenient car park outside the historic center and begin your exploration on foot. The first unmissable stop is the Scrovegni Chapel, where you will be captivated by Giotto's frescoes: an absolute masterpiece that will leave you breathless (remember to book your visit in advance!). Then proceed to the majestic Basilica of Saint Anthony, a place of faith and art that welcomes pilgrims from all over the world.

Next, immerse yourself in the tranquility of the University Botanical Garden, the oldest university botanical garden in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage site. For lunch, I suggest an aperitif and an "easy" lunch at TreQuarti, a place that will surprise you with its offerings. After lunch, the imposing Prato della Valle awaits, one of Europe's largest squares, with its statues and canals.

Continue your discovery with the Specola Museum, the ancient astronomical observatory, for a dive into the city's scientific past. Then head to the beating heart of Padua: the Palazzo della Ragione, with its impressive Salone, overlooking Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Frutti, where you can stroll among the stalls of the historic market. Don't miss Piazza dei Signori, with its Clock Tower.

Conclude your city center tour with a historic coffee at the famous Caffรจ Pedrocchi, a symbol of Padua. Then, one last stroll between Piazza Cavour and Piazza Garibaldi before retrieving your car.

๐Ÿš— Towards the Euganean Hills and the First Night
Get in the car and head towards the Euganean Hills. The first scenic stop deserves to be the Laghetto della Costa, a small lake surrounded by greenery. For the night, Aura Dimore awaits you, an enchanting place to relax after an intense day. Dinner will be a culinary experience at Ristorante La Montanella, known for its traditional cuisine and views of the hills.
