Your adventure begins in the heart of Biella, exploring its fascinating historic center and discovering its traditions.
📍 The Piazzo: a plunge into the Middle Ages
Park in Biella and take the funicular railway to the Piazzo, the medieval district that dominates the city. Here, stroll through Piazza Mario Cucco and the streets of Piazzo, admiring the Church of San Giacomo, the imposing Palazzo Gromo Losa and Palazzo Ferrero. Visit theFormer Monastery of Santa Caterina and walk through the historic Porta della Torrazza, imagining the ancient lives that animated these walls. At the end of the visit, take the funicular back down to the city.
📍 Lower Biella: Cathedral, Shopping and Beer
Once you get off, explore Biella Cathedral, then stroll down Via Italia, the main shopping street, until you reach Piazza 1° Maggio. For lunch, I suggest L'Argginita restaurant, known for its local cuisine. In the afternoon, you cannot miss a visit to Mebor Menabrea, the historic brewery, to discover the secrets of one of Italy's oldest beers. Afterwards, devote time to the Biella Territory Museum, which tells the history and traditions of this area.
📍 Ricetto di Candelo and La Bursch: a fairy tale village and an enchanted retreat
Retrieve your car and head a few kilometers to visit the tiny and charming fortified village of Ricetto di Candelo, a beautifully preserved medieval gem. From here, continue your journey toward the valley and reach La Bursch, a magical place surrounded by nature where you can regenerate. Here an excellent dinner awaits you and your well-deserved night's rest.
